How Do You Download A New AndroidOS Version After Rooting?

I know that this has been awnsered before, but for some reason the Search button doesn't seem work and it is also not going through Google's search engine.

How do I download a newer version of the AndroidOS, to a Rooted phone? And which version of the AndroidOS would be best for a Samsung Galaxy S4. I know that this phone is out of date, but I spent a bunch of money through Cricket, so I'm going to use it until it dies. Then I will upgrade to the S5, because I don't like using phones that don't have a removable battery and without a memory card port.

Any suggestions are very much welcome! Just please don't bash on me for something.

You'll have to find a ROM built specifically for your device.

CyanogenMod is one of the more popular / best supported ROMs.
