How do you make your own BETTER KEYBOARD skin?

I would like an answer to this question.... I plan to try AIDE to examine the packages of the themes I downloaded.

Normally each keyboard comes with its own skin, but often have a choice of included skins, which are proprietary to that particular keyboard. Could have a look at the AOSP keyboards, see how they do it there.
