How do you set lock pattern for phone and texts?

I was just wondering how you set your lock pattern as a security blanket for your phone if you put it down somewhere or someone randomly picks it up? Also, is there a way to set the lock pattern to check your texts and pictures? Thanks

Should be under Settings>Security>Use/Set Pattern

In the Motorola Droid it's under settings>location & security>require pattern
