How fast does the Pixel 2 charge?

The Pixel 2 comes with a 18W USB-C charger capable of fast charging. So exactly how fast is the fast charging? I started from 0% and recorded some numbers.
  • 0:00:00 – 0%
  • 0:20:00 – 37%
  • 0:30:00 – 50%
  • 0:40:00 – 60%
  • 1:00:00 – 79%
  • 1:20:00 – 95%
  • 1:30:00 – 98%
  • 1:36:00 – 100%
Totat: 1 hour 36 minutes

Impressive or not?

That doesn't seem that fast. I would have expected it to get to 80% in 30 or 40 minutes and fully charged in an hour ... at least for fast charging.

It's pretty typical for fast charging. The "fast" part is really only the first 50% or so. After that, it slows down to preserve battery health.

I grabbed this from Phonearena.com

I have the G6 and the wife has an S7 Edge. Both charge quicker ... at least that was my perception, which seems to be supported by the data above. The Pixel 2 is middle of the pack. That said, it's still pretty nice to be able to go from empty to full in under 2 hours.

Didn't Google say we were supposed to get 7 hours of runtime with a 15 minute charge?

Sure, but what is "runtime"? If Joe's test showed 37% at 20 minutes it was probably around 27% after 15 minutes. That should easily do 7 hours of standby with a few short calls and messages, but obviously isn't going to do 7 hours of heavy use.
