Help How hard can it be to access my phone calendar on a computer

Deejbk

Lurker
I am often without my mobile phone and need to see my mobile phone calendar. I use S Planner on my phone which supposedly sync with google calendar and jorte cloud calendars etc. However when I log into google calendar or jorte via a computer none of them show the events in my calendar, despite the fact that the google calendar and jorte calender apps on my phone display the events just fine.

How can I view my android calendar via a computer???

yes, on the google/jorte calendar app on my phone it all appears perfect, sync is enabled in S planner, google calendar, jorte, everything on my has has sync enabled and appears correctly. When i log into google.com/calendar or jorte.net on my computer, or even on my phone however, all I get is a blank calendar

And you are entering the events into a Google Calendar, not a phone-only one?

If works the other way? If you enter an event on the computer on the same calendar it syncs to the phone, or not?

I'm asking because, as you say in your first post, this stuff should be straightforward and just work, as long as you just use Google calendars rather than S-Planner or Jorte-specific ones (by which I mean the calendar, not the app).

Right got a resolution. The answer to the original question is apparently "Very hard"

Basically S Planner event can be very easily synced with other calendar mobile apps such as Google calendar, Jorte etc., but these apps will only sync THEIR OWN events with the cloud, and despite being "synced" with S Planner, these events will never be uploaded to the cloud(!) This is the reason I was seeing the events and calendars as they should appear on Google/Jorte calendar app on my phone, but when I logged into google/jorte, the calendars were empty. It would be very easy for these apps to do this (as I will shortly demonstrate) yet somehow none of the mainstream cloud calendars I have found are able to do this. Whether this Googles fault or Samsungs fault is a matter of opinion. If someone wants to to write and app that this, it could prove lucrative :D

The workaround is download an app called iCal Import/Export and export the S Planner Calendar via email to your desktop computer. From here you can download the .ica email attachment and then log into google/jorte and import the .ica. Your online calendar will now display exactly the same as your mobile calendar apps. Full steps can be found here: http://webcazine.com/11678/how-to-export-s-planner-to-google-calendar/comment-page-1/

As if that isn't enough, once that has been done, your events will now appear duplicated in you mobile planner so you have to open S Planner > Options > Calendars > Display > and untick "My Calendars" Once you've done this the calendar on your mobile appears as normal. Going forward, to prevent having to do all that again you should create a new event, selecting whichever cloud calendar you use as the calendar option (note this choice should stick is "My Calendar" is deselected.

Such a nightmare but finally got there.

Hmm, that does seem a pain. TBH I've never used S-Planner - other calendar apps either have events synced or just on the phone, depending on which you choose.

I have to say that I'll put the blame with Samsung on this one.

Anyway, glad you found a solution :)

Actually, it's because My Calendar syncs to Samsung cloud, while Google of course syncs to Google. So yeah, the blame is on Samsung for not providing proper instructions. Although of course these instructions are available on the internet.
