Help How long?

How long until you think this tablet will be outdated. I'm really debating on picking one up, but for that kind of money, I'd hate for something better to come out like next month. I know this stuff doesn't last long before the next best thing comes out, but I'd like to know that I have at least a few months.

Thanks for any input.

It's technology. It will get outdated eventually, but it will be functional for a long time. Will it be top of the line for five years? Probably not. Will it be top of the line (or in the running) till the end of the year? Probably. Will it still be functional and running well for a couple of years after that? Most likely, as long as it's taken care of.

Your best bet, if you're really worried about having "the best," is probably to wait for the TF700. It will have a few tweaks on it compared to the TF201 that will make it a bit nicer.

I agree with both previous postings. This device is great, especially with the KB docked to it, but if you want the latest and greatest then perhaps you should get the TF700.
Doing your 'homework' (which is what you're doing) is the smart thing to do (IMHO). Then after serious consideration go with the device you think is best for you,.....and then enjoy it. Don't be too concerned about the fact that the device you bought will no longer 'top dog' because that is inevitable and unavoidable.
Just for your information, I did a lot of research and study before buying my first Android device. I bought my SGS (GTI9000) about a year and a half ago. It still serves me well and I'm still pleased with it in spite of the fact that the SGSII came out. I feel the same way about my TF Prime. I did my research and decided that this is the tablet to have. I'm quite pleased with it and I'm not interested in (or worried) about the TF700.
Like I said, my suggestion is decide what it is you really want, then get it, and then enjoy it for as long as you like.

Didn't they say at some point they would be "updating" the TF201 with the new back panel to solve the wifi/gps issues?

Not the TF700 with the higher res panel, but just a new back panel for the 201?
Or am I on crack.

No, "they" (ASUS) have not said that. There are rumors about that though.
