How much is your phone worth?

So some of us keep our old phone knocking around, some of us sell them to friends and some of us sell them to online companys.

So here is another option:

A machine that will asses your phone and give you an 'honest' price.. maybe. :p Already in use in the U.S they are now expanding into the UK with Morrisons being one of the first to recieve the machines.

So what do you think? I bet it will be harsh as hell considering it is scanning your phone for mark's etc..

Another option is to donate your phone to iFixit so they can use it make a repair guide. This can result in a communal, long-term benefit for those who might need help repairing their own device. You won't be making any money off of this but at least there isn't any cost involved (they will mail you a shipping label). Just note that this isn't for high volume models (i.e. a Samsung Galaxy S7) as they need lessor known models to work on.

There's also a need for phone donations to shelters, like battered women shelters. They refurbish them and give them to the women.
Very good idea, but new shipping regulations made it hard to realize. In many countries, you actually can't ship electronic gadgets having a battery out of the country.

You could use special services from FedEx and DHL but the shipping fees are incredibly high, almost the same price of a new phone.
