How much space does an average Android app and widget take up?

I am going to get an LG Ally and I noticed that there is only 126MB of storage available for apps on it compared to the hefty 8 GB's availible on some others phones. Would I still be able to fit a fair amount of applications on this phone or not?

I couldn't answer the question of how much space the average widget takes; usually the matter of widgets seems to be the extra battery use imposed by some of them. I expect others out here can be more definitive.

Are you limited to getting something like the Ally, or is it simply a matter of preference? Personally, I think I'd end up finding myself frustrated by having only that much available space. I noticed the Ally is running 2.1, which is fine, but I'd be rather surprised if it ever got updated to 2.2, a prime feature of which appears to be A2SD, the ability to put certain apps on the SD storage.

126Mb will let you put a decent amount of apps on...... as long as you dont go crazy with huge apps....... most apps avg 1-2Mb or less....... just make sure you clear your cache regularly and dont horde a lot of apps you dont really use

so u only want to install widgets??? Are you not concerned about the space apps take? cause widgets take up nothing compared to apps

i have an ally as well. currently have about 20-25 apps on internal mem, and another 10-15 on sd because i like them but don't use them that often. that being said, i just checked and have 39 megs of internal storage free; so yes you actually can cram a good bit on this phone.

the best thing to do is use a website like Androidzoom or Appbrain that lets you look at multiple apps the same time. i always try to find the one that has the best functionality with the smallest footprint.

and btw, we will be getting 2.2 soon, so the internal storage issue will be moot.

The Ally is getting 2.2? I wouldn't have expected it. Good deal then!
