How reliable and how fast is Sprint's network?

I'm currently on T-mobile, but one of my family members wants to switch to Sprint.

Although T-mobile does have a faster 4G network, I loose 4G service almost everytime I walk into a building and it feels very unreliable.

So, how reliable is Sprint's 3G and 4G network and what are your average 4G speeds?

I don't think you'll have a problem with reliability. Sprints network has always been reliable in my experiences over about 10 years; and, its reliability has been ranked very high, if not the best. My 3G speeds very quite a bit but, always respectable... anywhere from 1mb to 2.2 mb downlaod... web pages always load fast. I cant speak for 4G, since its not in Phoenix yet (except for a couple spots its being tested). But, when traveling it has seemed to work well.

heres what i typically get in Phx, most of the 3G speeds are from inside my apartment, and the 4G speeds are in one of the sites they are testing here and taken from inside my car.

It depends on where you are. I am in the Nashville TN area and have excellent service. I use 4g on the EVO and have very good speed on my Optimus with 3g as well

Exactly! It depends on where you are. I am in middle of nowhere Oregon and Tmo is the worst here but Sprint is the best. I know it is not like that everywhere though. You should either ask people you know where you are who have sprint or try it out for yourself. You have 30 days to try it.

For calls, sprint is pretty reliable for me. In both DC/VA and in the SF bay area.

The network is pretty slow though, esp during business hours. At least thats what I am seeing. after 4PM, I usually see 800Kbps. Before that, it fluctuates wildly.

It really depends on where you are. In my city, some parts of town have great coverage. I'll get well over 1k data speeds. However, my house and my work get no 3g coverage at all.

Voice coverage is roughly the same as every other carrier around here. IE: no issues.

One thing I forgot to mention. Don't trust their map online. It's false. Both my house and the place where I work are marked as being in their "best" coverage area for 3g speeds. That's a lie.

3G is usually like .5-1.5mb depending on location with my HTC hero

Clear to my home is like between 4mb and 10mb depending on time of day.

On Virgin Mobile (Sprint MVNO) so it is the same. On a Optimus and it is great. 3G is better than I expected (VM is my first smart phone experience) and I have never lost service, so far.

As others have said, where you live is a big factor.

When in lived in NYC, Sprint was the worst.

Where I currently live Sprint is an all star.

Read my post....thinking of leaving Sprint.... then read there website under reviews....read ALL the reviews!!! Then read some more reviews!!! 3G is GREAT!

3g is painfully slow in the sf bay area. 4g in sf was quick, but the 4g in vegas wasn't great. overall i would say i'm pretty disappointed in sprint's network speeds.
