Help How the HECK does Translate work?

Okay, I never thought I'd need the S Pen's Translate function but here I am. I sent a message to a company, asking a question about a product that I backed on Kickstarter. They replied to me in Spanish! I have a basic grasp of Latin and the Romance languages, but I want to be sure I'm reading it accurately. So I click on Translate and all I get is the option of Spanish - - > English... but how do I actually get it to translate?

I haven't tried it with the note8 yet but with the note7 you just hover the spen over the text and choose translate. You should see the translation.

Ok, Chief, let's give this a go. I just now tried this. Display your Spanish text on the screen. Remove your s-pen to bring up Air Command. Select Translate. It should then ask you to select your source language, i.e. Spanish. Once you've clicked OK once or twice, you should be back at your screen with Spanish on it. Use the s-pen, pressing and holding its button, to hover over each work and it should give you the English translation. I don't know how to do your whole letter, etc. at once except for using google translate and copying/ pasting the whole thing at once. I've used google translate on my phone before and it works pretty well.

Good luck and please let us know how it went.

@Redeye Thanks and I FINALLY got it to translate one word at a time... but it's a message in FB Messenger. It's actually Portuguese. But I haven't figured out how to make it translate the whole thing at once...

The same box where you select the language, there's a small blue T - you tap that to toggle between word and sentence translation
.

Awesome - thank you! I never would have thought to look for the icon to change like that... nice job, Samsung, of giving us features without details on how to use them!

By the way, you need to remember this day well: it's one of the rare occasions when the apprentice teaches the master something

:p:D

Haha! Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?!

But yes it isn't well publicised, I ended up watching a handful of Youtube videos to get the most out of the S-Pen. I didn't know for example that holding the button down will turn the pen into an eraser on anything you have just drawn or written.

But glad to help.
