A message notification comes right on the lock screen but I can't swipe or touch it to go directly to the message. Is there anyway to go to it?

Hi and welcome to Android Forums. 
I'm not sure if the stock messaging app allows you to do this; many don't. Quite a few aftermarket SMS apps will allow this. I use Chomp SMS - Play Store and it does allow this function. Thte app has never missed a beat for me and I think it's great. Of course, there are numerous other apps in the Play Store that will do the same.
