Help How to automatically turn screen off when on call?

New to Andriod...My screen stays on when I am on a call and the phone is to my ear and I want it to turn off when it goes to my ear. I know it is not the sensor because when I going into Settings>Motions and gestures>direct call, and turn it on it works to make the call when I have a contact up and put the phone to my ear (I assume that is the same sensor). Anyway, I cannot find anything in the call settings that allows me to turn off the screen during calls. I realize I can set the desplay time to 15 seconds, but I am looking for a better solution.

Thanks for any help

Hi, did you try going to "Phone", you will see three dots near the top right of the screen, touch these, then select settings, the option to turn off the screen should be in there. Phil

I have looked in the phone settings and don't see anything. I have seen older posts for Android 4.4 (I think) where it is within the phone settings, but I am running 5.0 and it isn't there.

I have the S5 and also a Note 4.

both with a 10 minute screen timeout.

I just push the Power Button and all is well until you drop the call.

If you don't do that, the phone will turn the screen off when it is next to your ear ( Proximity Sensor ).
but, as I always use BT, that don't work.... so I just push the power button.

Thanks for the power button tip. Randomly the senor worked when I was on a call this morning without me changing anything. If it stops working again, I will just use the power button trick.

Thanks!
