How to Backup from Galaxy S8 to PC

Newbie in the forums here!

I cracked my Samsung Galaxy S8's screen by accident and I am going to give it to a cellphone repair shop.

I am going to back all of my data up to my PC temporarily until my phone is repaired. Are there any (free non-trial) software or techniques I should use to back up all of my data and personal stuff on my phone? Does Samsung's SmartSwitch do phone to PC transfers and vice-versa?

Thanks!

So I have backed up everything from my S8 to my PC using SmartSwitch. However, even though it says everything is sent, it seems that only a third of my memory from my phone was transferred. The memory transferred was worth 10 GB, but my phone's memory is 34.7 GB. Why was the other 24 GB not transferred? Are these apps? Can anyone explain?

When you state 'memory' are you referring to your saved data or actually your phone's internal storage memory? In this matter, backups refer to data -- things like photos, music files, config files, contact info, etc.
Memory is a physical thing, it's where that data is stored electronically. You are not transferring memory, that would involve physically removing a hardware chip out of one phone and putting into another (a very involved process), you're just transferring data, that happens to be stored on different memory media.
Also, assuming that you did check off every item in the Smart Store utility to back up, how does that 10GB amount of data correlate with the amount shown when you go to your phone's Settings >> Storage menu? Also keep in mind this is about backing up your data, it is not saving the operating system files either.

Tunesgo by Wondershare works well. I paid $30+ for it. Install onto your PC. I actually intended it to use instead of the itunes headaches for my wife and kids gadgets. It's more of a copy/paste process but also has a good backup component for android devices
