Battery University is a reliable source for current info on batteries in general. Lots of relevant info and worth perusing through. http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/
You can also give your phone's battery some help by doing basic things like turn down the screen brightness, disable or uninstall various animations and other eye candy (those items that are running only for appearances as opposed to functionality), and there's often things to attend to if you go into your phone's Settings >> Battery. If you can change the intervals for some apps to update themselves less frequently, that might help too. ('update' regarding something like a weather app or an email app -- instead of checking for updates every ten minutes or whatever, change the interval to every half hour or hour.)
One thing to keep in mind is if you fixate too much on the battery, at some point you might lose functionality or some feature you've become dependent on -- not having to charge your battery as often might be nice but if you've disabled too many things that does diminish your phone's usefulness.
