how to cancel ordin mode?

Hello there well my phone has stopped working properly and doesn't come onto the main menu or anything.
When you press the on button the phone comes on to the Samsung galaxy ace logo comes up and then shuts off then comes back on for a while.
But when you press the ON button and the volume up and down button a warning comes on the screen
which states "A custom OS can cause critical problems in your phone and installed applications.
if you want to download a custom OS press the volume UP key otherwise press the volume down key to cancel.
volume up to continue
volume down to cancel"

So when i press the volume up button to continue with the download it comes on to the download page and then no loading symbol or anything appears with how long the installation will take or anything its just an image of the android and some text at the top saying or Odin mode.
(Even when the download is being placed it takes ages )
Also if you choose the other option which is the cancel of the installation which states it restarts the phone it just comes onto the Samsung galaxy ace screen with the logo and thats it.

As you can see nothing really works either way.
Is there another way to fix this without getting through the ordin mode ?
& Could i get some assistance with this please?

Try holding the Home button and the Volume Up button and the Power button while the phone is off. When you feel it vibe, let go of the Power button, but keep holding the other two. That should take you into stock recovery, which will let you clear data and cache or factory reset the phone.

I have the exact same problem.....

I can get into the " Download Mode " as described by the OP and everything is the same as described above. What I cant seem to do is get to the " Recovery Mode " - I have tried the Home/Power/Volume Up button combo - it does not vibrate it just goes back to the " Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-19300 " screen and will go no further.

Please help me!!

Sorry should have said I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII on Orange - it has not been unlocked or rooted or fiddled with in any way at all!!
