Help How to cancel UK preorder?

First and foremost, Hi guys I'm from the UK and this is my first post... I've been browsing this forum for a while now reading the various topics on the Nexus 7 you've all been creating (great reads), but I'm struggling, I am trying to cancel my pre order (so I can buy from a retailer).
I have an Irish phone number from the initial email when I pre-ordered but when I call nobody picks up? The help options in Google Wallet are very poor from what I see and don't provide any options, numbers or email addresses to assist.
What else could/should I do.

I think you would need to refuse the delivery, but they will have charged your account. Another option is to remove you card from your wallet account so they cannot charge it, but I'm not sure that would work.
 
I had the same dilema, I have sent 5 emails requesting it to be cancelled, waited 50 minutes on the phone, on hold! Eventually I just removed my card details from google wallet.

Google has the worst customer service I have ever seen.......and I've used both 3 and dell!!! ;)

Now my order is still NOT officially cancelled but at 6am this morning I ordered a nexus 7 from dixons, 4 pm tonight it was sent to be delivered tomorrow. Now that is service!
 
Hi Unforgiven thanks for the timely response, I have already removed the card details but I still think it will go through, I could be wrong. A bit shady not having a cancel option me thinks.
 
You have to refuse delivery, there won't be any charges for this in the UK, but they will take your money from the card you gave at order. They said refund is 1-2 weeks though.
Removing your card details won't stop payment, you already gave them the numbers at order.

Well, when I removed my card details it warned me that it would effect my pre-order? I don't care if it does arrive I may just sell it on ebay or refuse delivery, not sure at the moment?
 
Apparently you can refuse delivery on the UPS website before they deliver it to you so it gets sent back to google immediately, its on your tracking page on UPS as a delivery option? Sounds like a plan!
 
Taken from the ups site -

How to Change Your Delivery Options
On either the ups.com home page or the main Tracking page, enter your 12-digit UPS InfoNotice number (found above the bar code) in the Tracking or InfoNotice Numbers field, and select the Track button. This will take you to the Tracking Summary page.
On the Tracking Summary page, select the Change Delivery button.
Choose from up to four delivery change options:

Will Call: UPS will hold your shipment at a nearby location for you to collect.

Deliver to Another Address: Redirect your shipment to a different delivery address.

Reschedule Delivery: Specify a future date you want UPS to deliver your shipment.

(((((((Return to Sender: UPS will return the shipment to the sender.)))))) :D

Select Next, and provide the required information for the option you selected. If there is a service fee for your request, you will be asked to provide a payment card number.
Select Finish to complete your request.
Print the confirmation page for your records.
 
Some good info there thanks guys, Ive deleted card details guess ill re order today with Dixons (for the speedy delivery) or something and hope that they dont send/charge me from the original, if they do ill speak with the missus, surely having one each would be better then sharing? ;P

That is exactly what I done yesterday! My dixons order will arrive today! Woohoo!!

If they do send my google one, even if I have removed card details I will just cancel delivery with the courier as above. :)
 
This is what I got which includes details on cancelling orders,

I agree this has been very poor experience for all of us. In order to receive a full refund just simply follow the information below.

At this point it is no longer possible to cancel this preorder. I ordered on the 3rd so looks like I won't get mine until next week Preorder shipment processing on your order has begun, which means that our shipping provider is moving forward with delivery preparation.

Our expedited order fulfillment process ensures that packages are delivered quickly, which also means that there is a very short window of time to cancel an order prior to our shipping provider moving forward with delivery.

I recommend leaving a prominent note on the door to let our shipping provider know that you're refusing delivery of the package. In some cases our shipping provider has returned packages if their drivers see a note for refusal of delivery. The note should include the following:

- Refuse delivery-Return to Sender
- Include signature
- Include tracking #

If your package is returned due to refusal of delivery, your order will be cancelled and refunded within 2 weeks.

If the package is successfully delivered in spite of the delivery refusal note on your door, you can still refuse delivery of unopened packages within 5 days of delivery. To do so, contact our shipper directly to schedule a pick up of your package. Make sure to let them know that the pickup is specifically because you're refusing delivery.

IMPORTANT: Don't open the package. Our shipper will not allow refusal of delivery for opened packages.
 
Good stuff, however i've just gone to buy from Dixons and on the payment page, there was PLEASE NOTE message, they don't have any in stock now, delivery is stated for 24/7/2012, guess i'm just out of luck :S
 
carphone warehouse say they expect stock tomorrow (19 July) on their website... but I reckon Google are making retailrs push back the release until they have shipped their own preorders
