How to change device serial number?

Hi everyone, my first android phone and my first post here so please be nice .

I have a Hummer H1+ which came already rooted, and the device serial number was changed to *****

Can I change it back to match the number on the phone label? If so how, and will it affect my phone's operation (apps, Google account etc.)?

Changing a phones serial number is illegal in the United States Mike. We don't discuss illegal actions here.
