Help How to change ringtone volume with headphones plugged in?

I have noticed that when I have my headphones plugged in (but not in my ears) and the phone rings, the ringtone comes out of both (the phone and the headphones, which is fine) but it is not as loud out of the phone as when the headphones out not plugged in.

If I pull the headphones out while its ringing the phone starts ringing almost twice as loud. Anyone know how I can make sure the phone will ring at full volume for those times when I forget to take my headphones out and put everything in pocket?

Could it be that with the headphones plugged in it's working on "media" volume? Maybe there's a work-around in there somewhere?

"Quick settings" (free from market) has a good control for vol levels.

Stock = settings>sound>vol - options of ringtone, media, alarm, notif.

Quick settings = vol control - options of ringer, notification, media, alarm, voice call, system.
