How to change the country on GPS?

I am extremely frustrated with my Samsung S3. I bought it in China and I cannot get the GPS to show anything outside of China, even though I am now in Ecuador. I travel frequently, and the GPS feature is the main reason why I bought this phone. I thought GPS stood for GLOBAL positioning system??? Why does it only show one country? I know I am getting a satellite signal. What am I doing wrong?

That is strange. Maps (the standard google mapping app) will show any country even without a gps signal. I suspect that what you have is not a genuine Samsung galaxy s3. I suggest that you register in the s3 forum and seek detailed help there so that a 2 way conversation can take place.
