How to check ESN?

I'm thinking about picking up a used phone, but want to make sure that the phone's ESN is clean.

Is there a specific department at Sprint that I need to call, or can any customer service agent help me out?

Any customer service agent, or you can call a local sprint store. Or do what i do when buyinh used phones, meet at a sprint store. Makes the seller real nervous
