How to close an app or a window with one click or botton?

Hi, I just received my new samsung galaxy cell phone. I am still exploring it. Each time when I open an app, then I hit the bottom button to close it, that window (or app) is not really closed. The window just disappears and the app is now running on the background. When you hit another button (the one with several windows) on the bottom, all the windows will pop up. I have to click "X" one by one to close every window. Is there a way to close every app or window with one click or button? I mean, when I click on the window or hit a "close" button, that window or app will be closed. I don't need to click on this button on the bottom and close it one by one. Thanks.

I don't think the app is actually running. Looks like what the system is doing is saving an image +links to run the app of the app that you ran. I say this because it also saves calls. Well if you select a call that you made previously, it sends you to where you dialed the number from, not the actual dialer. The app was closed.

I think this feature is for rapid re-calls and provides only short cuts to previous activities.

The app is not actually "running", it is just in a reserved space in memory....
Android will remove it from memory if it needs that space.

if you feel the need though, you can hit "Clear All" or "Close" depending on which version of Android you have.

as far as "just one button". Hit the Home Key and forget about it.
