How to Cold Boot?

I have done a search for how to Cold Boot my tablet and have tried what appears to be the method, but, cannot get it to work.

So, I power down the tablet and then hold down the Volume- button and, at the same time, hold down the Power button.

Keeping both of these down what happens is.....
  • Displays "Samsung GALAXY Tab S"
  • After a few seconds this dims a bit
  • After a few more seconds the screen goes blank
  • After a few more seconds this cycle repeats itself
The version of Android is 6.0.1

I do not want to reset to factory settings - just trying to tidy things up a bit and this used to be the way to do it!

Any suggestions would be most welcome

It seems that you can't get into Recovery Menu.

Repeat what you've done as stated above, but don't release the buttons at once.

When you see the Samsung logo, release the power button, when you see the other icons, release the volume button.
