While I can connect my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 to my Mac, efforts on my Windows XP have failed after many tries. I've tried Kies and Kies 3, but it does not recognize the device. Tried bluetooth without success (though I can use Smart Camera software and send photos wirelessly to my XP computer). Installed Samsings New PC Studio, but it won't recognize the tablet either. Windows recognizes the device as a camera (GT-P5210).
Running Android 4.2.2. Jellybean and Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Windows XP Professional, Version 2002) on a Lenovo laptop. Have restarted both tablet and computer multiple times, hoping drivers from Kies or other factors might kick in and help.
Sometimes the tablet tells me that my Windows XP system lacks software to recognize the Android. Says I need security pack 3 (got it!), Windows Media Player 10 or higher (I had 9 installed - now updated to 11 but still get the same error! yes, also restarted and tested after the update, no luck), or Android software for Mac. I'm in a Shanghai company where I'm at the mercy of our IT department for the basic system software (though it is legit, authentic software, just old, XP 2002). Any hope for connecting Samsung's tablet?
Windows Explorer recognizes the connected device as a camera. How do I get it to be viewed as a tablet for file transfer?
Like spell checking, connectivity should be a basic feature and should be easy. It shouldn't be this hard.
Update: I looked at USBDeview.exe when the Samsung Tab 3 10.1 (GT-P5210) is connected via USB cable. Shows USB Composite Device is connected, device type is unknown.
