How to create folders in Android Email?

Hi,
A friend of mine just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and he told me, that he could not find the way to create folders in the email application that it came with. It has an inbox, sent folder and trash and no way to create additional folders.

If it is possible, would you please, let me know how?

Geza

You create folders from the web-based gmail site. Once the folders are created there, they will show up on your google/android device(phone, tablet, etc.).

woodsb123: Thanks for replying. But what do you do if the email account is not on gmail? In fact my friend's email is for sure not on gmail.com. How can you create folders in the email app. in this case?

Or what you said, it is true to any email account because it is IMAP based?

My friend's email is with t-online.hu and he CAN access it through the web.

I will ask him to create folders through the web and we'll see.

Well, after my friend recreated the email account choosing IMAP instead of Pop3, and created a new folder through the web, the new folder did show up in the tablet so, this problem got resolved. But there is another strange problem now that has to be fixed, but I am going to start a new thread on it.
Thanks!

Bump, as I have the same question. I want to create a new folder (for example, "messages from Ann") in the stock email client, using my ISP provider POP (not IMAP) mail account. Is there a way?
