Help How to create sub-folders in Samsung My Files?

smit0847

Lurker
Before a big trip I will load my Galaxy S8.4 table with a lot of tv shows onto my tablet at once via Kies (including whole series). These load as one long list in My Files. I want to create sub-folders so I can sort the tv show episodes together, like 'XX show Series 1' and 'YY show series 2'.
I have searched everywhere and can't work out how to do this. Is there any easy way to do this? Im not interested in filing apps together, just video files.

I hate scrolling through a list of 50 files just to find what I want.

Hi

Long press a category eg "videos" to show its sub folders

menu button
create folder

Thank you - do you mean long-press in Kies? I've been able to create subfolders in the PC library in Kies (and copy that folder onto the Tab S in Kies), however when I open My Files on my Tab S I can only see the files from the folder, not the subfolder itself

I don't use that app, but can't you just navigate to the main folder and then create new folders within it?

Not that I can work out. As per my reply above, I cannot work out how to make the folders copy across to my Tab S with Kies rather than just the files copying across.

There are many other file managers, free, which have the functionality you're looking for; while I often use File Manager by Cheetah Mobile many folks here do not like it and would possibly recommend ES File Explorer File Manager -- both are free downloads. hth, RA

Hi again

No, I meant press on "Videos" in MyFiles (which is a categorisation, not an actual folder) to show what is already there. In Myfiles then press
menu button
select "create folder"

You can then move the files to the new folder. (I never use Kies, but, as suggested, I am one of those who like ES File Explorer) I suspect the folders you have created in Kies have not been indexed by MyFiles into it's categories. If you go to
MyFiles
Allfiles
sdcard0
you should see the entire contents of the internal storage (but not the protected system areas which need root access to see them)

I just took a look at 'My Files' on my Tab 3 7" wifi only tablet, running 4.4.2, and it has a button to 'create folder' on the screen. otoh, looking at my S5, I see a screen with 3 sections, 'Quick Search' 'Download History' and 'Local storage'. if I select either of the 2 Local Storage options, then in the menu I see a create folder option.
