How to delete folders that are created app when uninstalling app?

spman

Android Enthusiast
I notice that some apps automatically create folders when I install the apps. And when I uninstall the app, the folder does not gets deleted away. I need to go to My Files>All Files to delete the folder myself, and I do not always remember or know if there is any folder created and it causes leftover folders of the uninstalled app that are not needed.

Q1. When uninstalling an app, is there a way to hint me that there are folders that are created by the app so I know I can delete it.

Q2. Is there a way to know what folder is created by what app?

Q3. My Files>All Files folder has this folder "thritf_message.cache" and "wdh_update". What are they? I think I do not have them when I first bought the phone.

Thanks

Clear cache, clear data does not delete the folder and files created by the app. For example voice recorder app.

No, but it empties them. :)

Android installer is worse than Windows installer for leaving detritus from an uninstall IMHO. If you want a "clean" unistall totally from an app a file manager is the only way to go AFAIK.

My files is a poor excuse for a file manager. Get es file explorer or similar. Folders are much easier to view. Leftover folders are always going to be there. Some are not visible in "my files". Hidden folders (ones that begin with a ". " ) are not visible in that horrible app.

What does empties them mean? If I install voice recorder app, recorded a voice clip, then clear cache, clear data then uninstall, the voice recorder folder and clip is still there.

Get a file manager app ( like es file explorer) and go into the files and delete them. Some file managers even ask in a prompt if you want to delete all files associated when uninstalling an app. You just have to try a few and check in their settings.
The clip remains because it is now a media file. Uninstally gets rid of all files, but occasionally you have to check. It depends on what version of android you are on also. Its just like a computer, many installs and uninstalls leaves behind trash. You have to perform maintenance tasks from time to time to keep a clean and optimized system.

I just don't worry about orphan folders. Don't really take up space and not bothering anything just sittin' there. I'm just not AR about such stuff.

I've used SD Maid in the past to scan for and remove "orphaned" directories - like those that are left over from an uninstalled app. It may be worth trying out.
