how to delete message in go sms pro

Firstly, this may be the wrong place to post and if so I am sorry and would appreciate direction.
I just got an LG Optimus and it's my first smartphone.
I installed Go SMS Pro for messaging and cant figure out how to delete an individual message. For example when changing my mind and not wanting to save it as a draft

keep your finger pressed on the message and a menu will pop up, scroll down to delete thread.

Unfortunately no. When I hold my finger on the message I do get a menu but it's an "Edit Text" menu and without a Delete option

ok i've looked at this on mine. Like the person above me says, use the backspace to delete what you've typed, then press the back arrow and the message is cancelled and not saved.

Trash icon makes no sense since it's a thread. If you're feeling cheeky you can long press> select all> backspace.
