How to design application using HTTP connection

Hi:

I want to retrieve and store the data on remote server i.e. my server is JBoss and DBMS is Oracle. So, i want to handle all these functionality by using/opening HTTP connection/request.
So, is there any sample examples are available.

Anybody can help me
