Help How to display Facebook and Twitter status updates on contact card?

vnew

Lurker
I read on the following webpage:
A User

"The Contacts app, now renamed the People app, got the biggest update. While the Contacts app in Android 2.x was a rather bland affair, the new People app is a colorful hub for keeping track of your friends and family. If you have a social networking app installed (like Facebook or Twitter), the People app will find your friends that also use that service and display their status updates on their contact card."

However, in my Galaxy S3 i am nowhere seeing the status updates of my friends in facebook.

How do i enable it?

contacts app hasnt changed, its still contacts.
i updated to the LF2 firmware yesterday and its still contacts.

on my htc phones its under people but not on my s3

The people app is HTC specific. All functionality it has cannot be transferred to non HTC devices. Annoyingly, contacts will not do what you want, like a blackberry would.

Not sure if go contacts on the market does or not

I think you can still join facebook or twitter contacts although i havent tried it on my phone yet. If you go to the connected accounts in Settings - Accounts and sync - and sync contacts for facebook and twitter then if you go to the contacts app and select the contact you want press menu - and there should be a Join contact option which you should be able to select the facebook or twitter contact that should show up.
Try this to see if it changes something. I don't want to do it on my phone as I used to have an HTC and the joining up process meant that I had extra memory being taken up by profile pictures from facebook (even though they were resided and often poor quality)

It doesn't show status in contacts. Also yes it will sync Facebook pics but only once. They do not change when they update their Facebook pics. For this you need to download syncmypix

I tried SyncMyPix....it only managed to sync 16 of my 500 facebook contacts and said it couldn't find the rest.....

Maybe only 16 of your 500 Facebook contacts are non-facebook contacts on your phone? It won't sync Facebook contact images if you don't have an existing contact to sync to.

I just got the Galaxy Nexus yesterday...coming from HTC Evo4G which suddenly just died- read in another thread about SyncMyPix. It did about 1/3 of my contacts... and then when I investigated a bit more I found that if you are on the "results" page, and long-touch a name, it gives you the option to manually link it to a contact on your phone. It's a little bit of work, but it does the trick. Got most of mine done. I would assume, since it's now "linked" that the updates will be automatically synced with the linked contact. Loving Jellybean!
