Help How to downgrade Nexus 6 from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1

Hey, how do I downgrade my Nexus 6 from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1?

Anyone?

Thanks! And where do I download the 5.1.1 factory image for the Nexus 6 from? That tutorial links to the latest factory images.
 
You'd need to go to https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images, read the T&Cs, and then click the checkbox at the bottom ( I have read and agree with the above terms and conditions, proceed to the downloads).

The section at the bottom should now open up. Scroll down to the section labeled "shamu" for Nexus 6" and from there, pick the build you want.

Remember to back up your data.
  • Unlocking the bootloader (if not already unlocked) will wipe your phone
  • Flashing userdata will wipe your data off the phone
 
But I am confused as to which 5.1.1 build number to download? I see my 6.0.1 build number is MOB31E.
 
Who's your carrier? If T-Mo or Project Fi, download builds specific to them (as labeled on that page). Else, you should be able to use any of the other builds.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to downgrade to an older build? Is 6.x causing issues for you? If so, maybe try to address those issues instead. I'd not recommend going to older builds with security issues.
 
Yes, you have replied to my last thread and in addition to the slowing/freezing and the screen crashes since I updated to 6.0.1 and the battery drains, and the phone overheats. I had 6.0 and I do not recall having these issues with 6.0. Half of the apps that did have no problems and now they pretty much all crash on me except for a few.
 
Ah, ok - my memory is not what it used to be :)
So, would you rather go to 6.0 instead of 5.1.1?

Which 6.0 version between MRA58R or MRA58X? Or neither?

Either, I guess. Given that you are anyway missing out on the security updates and bug fixes, going back one version on 6.0 will likely not matter a whole lot.

BTW, Nougat was released today for the Nexus 6. May be worthwhile trying it out
 
I was going to update today to the Nougat via factory image via ADB.

I downloaded 7.0.0 from Google Developers

I opened the folder and did a Shift + right click to open command line

Than I did adb devices and that is fine

Than I did adb reboot bootloader and again that was fine.

Than I did flash-all and I receive errors saying that the fastboot is not recognized as internal or external command.

And the bootloader has been unlocked and I never relocked the bootloader.
 
A few comments:
  1. fastboot is different than adb (ADB runs when you are logged into the OS. fastboot will run in bootloader mode). To flash images, you need to use fastboot
  2. "fastboot is not recognized..." seems to indicate that you don't have fastboot installed on your PC. Reinstall fastboot drivers, and try again
  3. flash-all has never worked for me. In the URL I linked to earlier in this thread, @jhawkkw provided the steps to flash individual images - in step 11, I use the second option where I flash the individual img files, instead of flashing the entire zip file
 
I do not want to use the Wugs tool to udate to Nougat 7 because in my opinion it does not restore to stock completely.

The same with OTA.

I would do it manual. The problem is I am confortable, yes. I am not afraid to do this. The problem is I do not know what I am doing and even where to start. I read over that guide several of times.
