Help How to efficiently manage contacts in android

I have an android phone and managing contacts is purely frustrating!

My primary contact manager is Windows Live. Now, the same contact exists in gmail and in LinkedIn. When I link this person on my Contacts app on my Android phone, I want the person's name in Windows Live to be default, but for now it shows the LinkedIn name as default and also picks up the Photo from LinkedIn.

This is very frustrating.

Is there a way to solve this?

The Android OS is designed to work around the Gmail account as the default.

I'm not saying you can't use Windows Live as your default, but I suspect that you will have a constant battle with the device to do it.

Similar to the battle you would probably have if you wanted to use a Windows phone with Gmail as your default.

Thanks. for the benefit of all, i deleted all my contacts in my gmail accounts and also told gmail & google+ not to add all the contacts by default. :)

I use Windows Live to sync my contacts & calendar between my PC and my Android phone. (Technically I use Hotmail which is exactly the same as Live.com, and Outlook which behaves almost exactly the same as Windows Live Mail.) In Android 2.3 (and I imagine in newer versions of Android) you can choose which online accounts you want to sync to your phone and which ones you want to "display" on your phone.

To change which accounts to sync:
Go to Settings --> Accounts & sync settings, then click on each account and check-mark or uncheck whether to sync that account's contacts.

To change which synced accounts to display:
Open your contacts app and go to the "Contacts" tab. Select Settings --> Display options, then click on each account and select whether or not you want those accounts to be displayed on your phone.

Note that you it may be worthwhile to put a duplicate set of your contacts on Gmail's servers (but not necessarily display them) so that you can, for example, tell Google Now (Google Voice Search) something like, "Navigate to John Smith's house." I think John Smith needs to be on the Gmail server in order for Google Now to tell you phone's GPS how to navigate to John Smith's house. (This may have changed so you might want to check if it's important to you.)

FYI: I wrote the following excruciatingly-detailed explanation of how to sync Windows Live Mail's contacts and calendar to Android at the following link. You may or may not find parts of it helpful.
