How to extend battery life on Galaxy S6?

Okay so, I got the Galaxy S6 from AT&T during the last week of July... I've rooted the phone so I could change my boot animation. My major concern about this phone is the battery life.. It sucks. My other household members have the Galaxy S6 active and the battery life has been great. I love the Galaxy s6 because of the fingerprint sensor and the looks. I really don't want to switch in this phone for the active. Do any of you have suggestions? I'm sure with my phone being rooted there is something I could do.

Well you'll struggle to match the Active because that has a much larger battery.

I don't know much about the S6, so can't provide any specific pointers. But root-related things that could improve battery life a bit would require a custom kernel. These include slight reduction of cpu voltages ("undervolting" - don't be too aggressive with this), reduction of clock speeds, different governor and scheduler choices.

All of the usual non-root tricks apply too: find out what is using the battery (a decent battery monitor app, such as GSam Battery Monitor, will help with this), delete or disable apps that are using excessive power if you don't need them, turn down the brightness a bit, check how often things are syncing and reduce the frequencies if necessary (e.g. do you need a weather app updating every 30 minutes, or social networks updating every 10 minutes?). And check for apps which prevent the phone from sleeping (GSam can do this better with root than without) and again see if there are any problematic apps there.
