Hi, I have a Galaxy SIII from At&t.

My car is a bit old, and as a result has no way to connect my phone for music via usb. Rather, I use a tape deck converter that plugs into the headphone jack. When I first got the phone, I was able to use it two or three times, no issue. But then after that it stopped working. it would still recognize that a headphone device was plugged in and prompt me accordingly, but when I pressed play nothing would come out. Not even out of the phone speakers.

Now this isn't that unusual, except for the fact that at one point I had to put my phone through a factory reset and when I reset it, it began working again with the tape deck. But only a few times, and then it stopped like last time.

I can use regular headphones though, and other devices work on the tape deck. This is a rather curious problem and I was wondering if anyone had some help? Thank you very much!

It could be an issue with how the tape deck is plugged in- the cord may be finnecky and that's why it's only working sometimes. Something else to check is to make sure you turn your media volume up after you plug the phone in.

That was my thought too. I've replaced a number of those things over the years, as usually the cable breaks internally after a while.

Can't think of anything else, as they are very simple devices. Not playing through the speaker will be because the phone thinks it is outputting through the headphone socket.
