How to get into android field?

HI...
I am good at grasping coding in any programming language(any coz my belief is A programmer is a programmer who can code in any language just knowing its library functions keywords syntax...etc)...I heard of android a lot...but i am not sure whether am going to click in this field or not....
Help me out of this...
-What is the scope of Android?
-what is the pay scale for android developer?
-Is android based on java(j2me)?
-what about abroad chances?
please let me know about android that all i have to...
i am badly in confusion whether to make it my life or not!!!!!!!!!!
