Help How to install the latest android on GT-I9082?

Hello droiders!

I'm facing a big confusion right now.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos (GT-I9082) in China and I want to use it in Brazil (I'm here now). I bought it unlocked but it came with "Chinese Android Version" I can't use Google Play or update the system it crashes every time I try.

So my question is: How can I install the latest proper Android version for GT-I9082?

I'm kinda new to this situation and, on Google, I found many different ways for doing that but I'm not really sure what's the best way or how to do it. So, could someone that tried before tell me a safe way to do it?

PS: I also checked that there are Custom ROMs made for this device, is it safe to install a Custom ROM? What is the best one right now?

PS2: When I looked for the firmware, I could find many different versions, should I choose the Firmware for China (CHU) or can I choose any of them? (There isn't one for Brazil, so maybe the Malaysian XME firmware would be better than the Chinese CHU firmware for me, or this doesn't mean anything?)

Sorry for asking to many different things in the same thread, I'm a little bit lost right now. Any "light" would be more than appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

By using Samsung Kies
-----------------------------
1. First launch Samsung Kies.

2. Then connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable that came with it.

3. Now Samsung Kies will automatically recognizes your device and a dialogue box
appears showing the available updates, if any.

4. Click the update button in the dialogue box to start upgrad ting to te latest software.

While you're upgrading the device, you shouldn't turn off the computer or disconnect
te USB cable and don't connect other media devices to the computer as it may interfere
the upgrading process.
