How to make my SD card work properly?

recently i purchased an SD card to upgrade my memory, I was finding that my memory at 900 MB was not suitable. I move all of my music in the SD card, and life is good. However, I can no longer play music from the music player app because the music is not on the actual built in memory card in the phone. Does anyone know how to make it so my music is detected by my music player? can anyone help?

What version of Android are you using, or is your phone roooted?
The latest versions of Android have added SD card "security". Now only the app that wrote a file to the card can read that file. At least, that's pretty much the idea. I'm still trying to figure out the details myself.

I'm not familiar with the Galaxy Express. What Android version are you running? What music player are you using? Are you sure you have a real MicroSD card (the forums are full of people reporting that they bought a MicroSD on ebay or the like, only to find out it is a fake)?

The fact that the music files are on a MicroSD card vs. internal memory should not matter. I have friends with other Samsung phones who listen to MP3s off the MicroSD with no problem (as do I, on my Motorola).

I will say that some Samsungs seem to have a problem scanning for new media. Try restarting the phone (just turn it off and then turn it back on again) and see if the music app sees the files. If not, without knowing more details, I would guess you have one of two problems:

(i) The MicroSD card is bad.

(ii) The music player app needs to be told to look to the MicroSD card for music. Try poking around in the app's settings.

That's not accurate. Only the app that wrote the file (and certain system apps) can *edit* the file, but any app can *read* the file. A music player app does not need to *edit* the file to play it, so I don't think that is the source of the OP's issue.
