How to permanently remove/de-register devices from Google Play?

How do I permanently remove a device from my Google Play account? I do not want to just "hide" the device. I want to permanently de-register and remove the device from my account.

I believe that cannot be done..the best you can do is hide the device

I went looking for it today and could not find a way to delete it.

I know, right? I have looked also and have seen other members trying to delete an old device from the PlayStore/account but couldn't be done. Why? I don't know but sure would like that option
