How to prevent an application to access Internet without root access and without VPN?

Hi,

When we turn on data access (by mobile data or by wifi) in an android phone, all applications start Internet access and almost all applications like whatsapp, facebook, twitter start notifications.

I read many articles to prevent desired applications for Internet access for certain time.

I found two options; it can be done after root access of an android phone or by using some applications like NetGuard. Almost all applications use VPN for this purpose.

Without rooting an android phone and without going through for VPN, I want to prevent desired applications for Internet access for certain time.

Pls let me know what I need to do?

Regards

For my phone, in Settings - mobile data - networked apps, there are options to disable or enable internet connections for some desired app. Check the screenshot as below.
