How to prevent T-mobile system update?

Does anyone know if it's possible to prevent T-mobile from forcing a system update to my (independently purchased) phone?

The phone was purchased from Amazon, is T-mobile branded but new/unlocked. However T-mobile forced an update that was 32MB and used up all my 4G last time I paid for data access (one day pass).

I called their customer service but the foreign CS rep didn't seem to understand the problem and could not help me.

i've never heard of a tmobile update using 32gb of data. sounds like something else got pushed to your phone.

Sorry, I was thinking in gb. What I meant to say was 32MB, they throttle you after 30MB on a day pass. I will edit it.

But that's neither here nor there, I need to know how to stop them from forcing the update. Anyone know?
Thanks.
