How to put music on your SGS2 like an iPhone convert noob.

Hi forum people,

I have made the transition recently from an iPhone 4, to a Windows 7 phone, and after the Mango update made absolutely no difference to it's shitness, I decided to go the Android route.

I bought an SGS2 and although I realise and respect that a new device takes time getting used to, I've played with it for a while and it's a little overwhelming. So I haven't done anything apart with experiment with new wallpapers and work out how to sync my photos n videos with my PC (which is bullshit hard compared to the iPhone I must say). I moved away from iPhone because I've always hated Apple. If I grew up with it and ran my life by it from an infant, it would be fine. BUt I have accumulated too much of a digital collection to allow apple to come in and **** it all up.

Anyway, my point. I download a lot of music. I have them stored as files in folders on my PC. It took a bit of working out, but I realised that with iTunes I could drag and drop a folder of music into the "Playlist" part of iTunes, and it would pout all the music into the general music folder however it wished, but it would keep the files in the order that they were in on my PC. I don't have libraries and purchased iTunes collections like the cool kids. I started my music collection when PCs still told you when it was safe to turn off. I have folders (albums) on my PC that have files from all over the place renamed "Track 01 - I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor". When I transfer these to any "Library" it says it's "i will SuRvIve".

Put short, I want to be able to drag and drop a folder of files (album) to my Samsung having the name of the folder (album name) as the playlist title and all the files in that folder stored in alphabetical or numerical order as I have named the files. ie. I want to be able to put any two files together, name them track one and two, and have my [phone pick it up as such aftr I trabsfer it.

Any help would be appreciaed. I cant find any info on the net about this so I dont know if I'm doing things in an ancient way or something but I just want music files to appear on my phone as I organise them on my PC.

Thanks guys!

How did you sync your photos? Because I found it odd that you found that out without working out how to sync the music.

Anyway, go to Menu-Settings-Wireless and Network-USB Settings-There will be three options there: Kies, MTP/Media Mode, and Mass Storage

1. Kies - this is the mode you want selected if you will be using Samsung Kies (essentially Samsung's version of iTunes) to manage your music, photos, videos, contacts, etc. There are third party programs you can use to do that as well, like MyPhoneExplorer. In this mode, you need Kies on your PC (the actual program, not Kies Air or Kies Mini) and you can sync using that.

2. MTP Mode - this allows other media players, like WinAmp or Windows Media Player, to detect the device and sync media to it.

3. Mass Storage Mode - When you plug in using this mode, your PC will detect your phone as two external hard drives (1 for the internal memory, another for the SD card you inserted). Basically, drag and drop your music, photos etc onto it just like any other flash drive. This is the method I use mostly, because its faster than syncing music.

For syncing photos and videos and other stuff, I just use SugarSync (cloud sync and backup).

*Using Kies and MTP mode, your phone will also appear in My Computer>Devices>Your Phone. Clicking this open wil show you your SD card and onboard storage just like in Mass Storage mode.
