How to really backup my android accounts

RamShop55

Lurker
Hi guys!
I am constantly changing my ROMs and I need a fast way to backup my applications and not re-add everything. For this "Titanium Backup" works for 1-2 apps, but the most important problem that I can not find is how to restore my accounts? Its a very big problem to re-add them every time. I want to be able to do it fast with no effort, can someone point me to a good solution as I can not find any that works. Is
a nandroid backup from a different ROM usable and what is the procedure for restoring my accounts only?

How about the paid version of Titanium Backup? Been a couple of years since I used it, but there were several things that it would backup in afformat that was transferablebbetween ROMs that the free version wouldn't. Certainly I never had to re-add all of my accounts, and I just used Ti for everything.

Doesn't work. Even if there is some way to make it work, its not documented and the general backup restore or any type of backup restore does not work.

When I switch roms I simply backup apps with data in titanium pro and everything else is backed up by my google account. On the new roms I simply add my gmail then restore my titanium backups.

Certain apps have their own backups like Nova launcher and Whatsapp.

As for restoring a nandroid, it can be done if it's the same android version and you're only restoring data. It's not recommended though because you can introduce data from the previous rom that might cause bugs on the new rom.

Does this backup that you perform automatically restore all of your accounts too(google, vkontakte, pinterest)?

The ROM manager is for CWM, it does not work with TWRP.

The google account is automatically backed up and restored with your gmail account, unless you're one of those paranoid folks and disabled automatic backup and restore with your google account.

As for all other apps, I use titanium backup pro which in your case would be for vkontakte, pinterest, and any other apps.

If you constantly switch roms you have to experiment with different methods till you find what works best for you. What I mentioned above is what works for me.

The problem is that you refer to "backing up the account data" and what I need is backing up the account. I want to just re-install the "ROM" and find all my accounts already added, I don't need to save the "emails in the account, other data and etc" I understand its backed up by google. What I need is a way to re-enter my accounts without effort.

Depends on what those accounts actually are probably. Because things like Whatsapp, Wechat, Outlook, etc. those you need to re-login and re-authenticate when you change phone, for security. When you change a ROM on a phone, as far as their concerned it's a different device you're using.

I see, this is a good explanation. I guess it depends on the ID, as the ID might change when you re-install the phone. Titanium backup can restore the ID, but will this be enough to restore my "google mail" or "thunderbird mail" accounts? I don't care which email app it is, I just want my accounts on it.

Yes this post is a couple years old.. but its still valid and never had a resolution... I just found it with a search... most relevant to my issue.

Ramshop mentions 'thunderbird' working - but thats not available on android nor do I see how it could get access to the system files to auto insert new account info.

I'm in the same situation... I've bought about 30 android devices in the past few years and have over 60 email accounts to add every time I get a new device... and they are all Gmail...

The built in Google account transfer used to work - it would move about 5 or 10 of my emails over to the new device == then make me type the password in.. which was annoying... After I got into the 20's and beyond for email accounts that system failed every time with a random error... common problem...

Samsung smart switch by design does not move accounts over; I NEED a program that will copy all gmail accounts - email addresses and passwords- into a new device... as I do this every other month... and dont want to type in 50 long emails that all have 20 character long gibberish passwords that I dont even remember without checking my encrypted password manager.

I've posted this Q on the xda forums 3 months ago.. no luck with replies... wonder if anyone here knows anything?
