Help How to remove Time in upper right corner?

How can I remove the time that shows in the upper right corner of my phone? Android 4.4.2. Samsung Galaxy S3.

I already display a Time widget on the home screen that is easier to see than the time in the corner.

This app should do it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dr8.sbicons.sgs but you will need to be rooted. Probably not worth the effort!
