Help How To Rename Bookmark Folders In Chrome For Android?

kblanco

Well-Known Member
Okay, I've been with Android for a few years and for the life of me I can't figure out how to rename a bookmark folder in Chrome for Android? I've tried on the phone browser and also the Chrome browser on a PC. Making the switch considering how IE is being retired. I'm running a Moto G with Kitkat if that helps anyone...

I can figure out how to make subfolders, delete folders and I even added a folder once purely by accident. But I can't figure out how to rename the main folders so I can remember what bookmarks go into what folders while I'm surfing the www.

Hi

In chrome on android:

Press three dots at top right
select bookmarks
long press a bookmark
select edit folder
change name and save (I dont think you can change the name of Bookmarks, Desktop, Other or Mobile)

On a PC very similar but select bookmarks>bookmark manager which is a file manager for bookmarks

You know, I wanted to say thanks to the individuals whom responded to this question. I tried theirs and any other way I could think of, but for the life of me I just couldn't figure out how to create new folders or sort my bookmarks and to aggravate things Microsoft is dropping IE for PC's. So long story short, I went looking for a new browser both for my mobile and my PC. For my mobile I found Dolphin, which really looks neat. I quickly, and on my own, discovered how to create folders, import all my bookmarks (okay, I had to look each one up in Chrome mobile and then copy it over to Dolphin but I don't have many bookmarks they were just unorganized) and then quickly and effortlessly sort and organized them. Now if only I could find an easy to use browser for my PC, Dolphin doesn't seem to have a browser for a PC....

But thank you everyone!!!

That's odd. For Chrome, any edit I make on the PC is reflected on my phone. Are you signed in on your PC and have sync enabled? As well as on your phone?

Yes I'm signed into Chrome on my work computer cause the browser picked up most of my favorites from the mobile Chrome on my Android. But for the life of me I just couldn't figure out how to sort and rename folders. I don't know about syncing and whether or not I might've had that enabled. But I've already moved everything over to Dolphin and it's very easy to use and fast. I've got a selection of different search engines I can use, right now I have Chrome selected, and it's easy to create, rename and move favorite folders so I'll probably just stick with Dolphin. It's even fast when not connected to wifi and I've hit my data cap and been throttled. Chrome used to crawl under those conditions...
