I assume that you mean to clear internal storage rather than RAM - just saying in order to be clear what I'm talking about.
Your options depend on whether the phone is rooted or not, and what OS version you are using. If you are using Android 4 or later you can use the Helium backup app without rooting, then copy the backup to a PC for safe keeping. Rooted users can use Titanium Backup for the same purpose (whatever android version). All but the oldest devices should be able to back up to a computer using adb, though this does require some setting up.
