How to set custom notification sound

How can I set a custom notification sound on the Galaxy Tab S using an mp3 file?

I copied the file from my S7 Edge and it worked fine there. But the Tab S only shows a list of the built-in notification sounds

Thanks

Using an application called ringtone maker should give you the results you want

Hope this helps

And just to be very explicit, Android filenames are case-sensitive so the folder is called Notifications with a capital N. And there's a separate Alarms folder for alarms (and Ringtones, but as that's a tablet you shouldn't need to worry about that).

The mp3 file has to be in the notifications file in order for you to set it. Use a file manager tool or a PC to copy it over, then you should be able to select it as a tone.
That was it! I didn't even see the notifications folder before.

I moved the mp3 ringtone I wanted into that folder and now it shows as an option!
Who hoo.
Thanks

Tried this app and it does nothing on the Galaxy Tab. Maybe it only works on phones?

Have you tried finding a ringtone similar to the one you want on the application called zedge. it provides multiple ringtones and notification tones for you to choose from completely free

Since I already have a ringtone I want to use, I don't see the benefit of downloading another app to do what I already have. But thanks for the tip. I will keep it in mind for future devices.

Fortunately one of the geniuses here came up with the solution. All I had to do is copy the mp3 into the notifications folder and wha la, it showed as an option for notification.
