How to show notification details on lockscreen?

Hi

My friend's IPhone will hide the notification content on his lockscreen until facial recognition unlocks the device.

Is this possible on Android? Currently I can only hide or show notification content, regardless of lock / unlock status of the phone.

Thanks
Ash

This type of thing may depend on the phone or android version, and we don't know what you are using.

My phone offers "show all content", "hide sensitive content" and "don't show notifications", though to be honest it's not a very good judge of "sensitive" (i.e. it's not just the content of messages it hides if I select that). But any restrictions are only the lockscreen, once you've unlocked you have full access. Of course once you are unlocked you are no longer on the lockscreen, so you need to pull the notification slide down to see them - but then it wouldn't make sense to unlock and still be on the lockscreen, so this is to be expected.

If you want the notification to be in the middle of your screen after unlocking then I know some calendar or SMS apps that can produce "pop-up" style notifications, but most apps don't do this. So in general once you've unlocked you need to look at your notifications the usual way.

(I've got to be honest and say that I rarely see the lockscreen: I unlock with a fingerprint without bothering to wake the screen first, so the only time I see the lockscreen is every few days when it asks for the PIN as extra security).

Hi.

Thanks for the information.

I'm using a Galaxy S10 on Android 9.0. I can't seem to find any 'Hide sensitive' setting

I'm using a Pixel 2 on Android 9, so if you don't have "hide sensitive content" then that's a change that Samsung have made rather than a feature of the Android version. Though as I say, its definition of "sensitive content" is basically "anything more than what app is posting a notification", so it's not so useful in practice.

My phone does that. Or at least I THINK it's doing what you're saying.

It is on my phone (Oreo 8.0.0):
System settings | Apps & notifications | Notifications | On the lock screen | Don't show notifications at all
Currently I can only hide or show notification content, regardless of lock / unlock status of the phone.
I'm unaware of this. Per the steps above, the "on the lock screen" setting has its own choices.

* I feel like I'm grossly misunderstanding something here; I welcome being enlightened. :)
