How to shut off camera

I just purchased a MyTouch android phone from Walmart (new Family mobile). Each time I unlock the screen, the Camera opens up, Its annoying b/c i have to exit the camera every time. Is there a way to modify this setting? I looked around the phone and haven't seen anything.

What kind of lockscreen do you have on the device, have you set the phone to open the camera app as soon as you unlock it, or is the camera a shortcut on the lockscreen that you can swipe onto it directly to open it?
