How to sort and load music?

Ok I have alot of songs I have had for years and want to be able to listen to them. On my old Nokia express music phone it was easy to plug it in transfer a song add it to a playlist and was done. On teh android it seems different, I have my music or sd card from the old phone in the new one, but when scrolling through them it has them arranged weird, some will be in sub folders others will be in places that shouldn't be or I have to do a search to find it all.

I am wondering if I need to format the sd card with the android system as the old phone could have been different format. If so I do have some apps moved to the sd card would I lose that info and saved data from the games? I have not been able to find anything on how to organize music on teh android with a sd card. I would like to be to go to a catagory and scroll down to find a song or artist rather than spending hours having to search before I find it.

I do know now its getting harder to get music and have waiting to do it the right way before using the P2P methods but have been scared off of those now. Been reading some of these mp3 apps that can download straight to the phone or card kinda seems like a phone version of the old P2P networks we use to use.

You probably should format the card if you are bringing it from another operating system. As far as organizing your music, just put in in a folder called Music. The android player will automatically sort it, assuming your id3 tags are all correct.

Yes you would lose that info. Moving apps to the sd card doesnt actually move the app or its save data, it only moves the app's cache files. You can reinstall apps through the market, but you will lose all the data, unless both phones are rooted.

If that's what you are doing now, then it's likely your id3 tags are incorrect for all your files. If the tags are correct, the player will sort the files based on artist, genre, album, etc. You can use TagScanner on a pc (or many other programs) to fix your tags.

And not to mention they are illegal.

Yea why I stopped was not worth a big fine over a 1 dollar song. Would I be able to move the apps back to phone to save them reformat and then move back to sd card?
