Help How to sort contacts by first name

I bought my HTC Magic yesterday, I already love it (difficult learning to type msm though), but it annoyes my that I can't seem to figure out how to sort my contacts by first name. As it is now they are by last name, and that does not work for me. Can anybody tell me a way to do it, so that I don't have to change each contact manually?

I just honestly renamed them all properly..I wish there was an easier way.
