After lots of online research I couldn't find the answer. I was close but not there. I gave up and called
the company directly and here is what you need to do:
1. Turn off the phone
2. Turn on the phone
3. As soon as you see the Huawei logo on the screen start clicking on the volume DOWN button repeatedly
and I mean REPEATEDLY until the phone starts. Otherwise it won't work.
4. When on you will see the Safe Mode on the bottom left and all none pre-installed apps having the android
logo and not operational.
5. To go back simply restart the phone.
6. Quick note, when restarting the phone some apps might need resetting.
7. I know this is supposed to be easy however this got me really frustrated until I found the answer. Good luck.
